Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that the position of women has changed a great deal in many societies over the past 50 years but they cannot claimed to have gender equality. I agree with this view because there are more violence on female in existing society and discrimination on the basis of works.
The primary reason why I agree with this view is that it created a mentality that women are trained as housekeeper and other jobs are not for them. The discrimination on the basis of work is prevailed in most of the part of society. For example, there is thinking that women's responsibility is to take care of their children and completing the household work with their job. Another important point is that constitution of every nation has provided rights for the women for their self growth and the independence. As a result, they face the backlash from the society if they are going against the norms and moral of society.
Furthermore, society thinks women are weak enough as compared to masculine to do any hard work. This is mainly because the body of men is quiet strong than women to perform the hard tasks. In addition, they are working in multi-national companies and proving themselves as equal as men to make them independent and self-development. Therefore, the position of women has changed but the mentality of society is on the past.
In conclusion, I completely agree that position of women has changed but the gender equality is not claimed yet because society is following the trend that they learned from their ancestors that differentiate between the men and women.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you agree that women’s status has improved but gender equality has not been achieved. You give relevant reasons, including expectations that women manage domestic responsibilities and social resistance when they challenge norms. However, the response only partly develops these points. The claim about violence in the introduction is not explained later, and the discussion of women being physically weaker shifts towards physical capacity rather than showing how this creates unequal treatment. The reference to women succeeding in multinational companies is relevant but needs a specific example and clearer explanation of how it supports your argument. Develop each main reason with a concrete example and connect it directly to equality.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally relate to your stated position. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “For example,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the point about constitutional rights is followed by social backlash without fully explaining the connection, while the discussion of physical strength moves abruptly to women’s achievements in companies. Some references, such as “they” and “this,” could be clearer. Organise each paragraph around one main reason, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “discrimination,” “independence,” “norms,” and “gender equality,” and you attempt to express abstract ideas about social expectations. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. Examples include “violence on female,” “discrimination on the basis of works,” and “the position of women has changed but the mentality of society is on the past.” Some phrases are also repetitive, particularly references to society and women’s position. Aim to learn common collocations for discussing equality and use more precise terms for the specific forms of discrimination you mean.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning “because,” “why,” and “if,” and your overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors occur frequently in sentence construction and verb forms. For example, “they cannot claimed” needs a correctly formed verb, and “the discrimination … is prevailed” uses an incorrect passive construction. There are also agreement and article problems in phrases such as “there are more violence” and “the body of men is.” Some long sentences combine several ideas without clear grammatical control. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb patterns, and check each sentence for a clear subject and main verb.
