Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The letter identifies the purpose—applying for a waitress position—and explains that you are currently a university student seeking part-time work. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it gives almost no evidence of your suitability for restaurant work, such as customer-service experience, communication skills, or reliability. It also asks the restaurant to suggest an interview time rather than stating when you are available, so this task point is not fulfilled. The request to consider you and the mention of an attached CV are relevant, but the letter needs fuller development. It is also 52 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to cover the requested points adequately. Add specific qualifications and give clear interview availability.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable letter format, with an addressee, subject line, greeting, body, and sign-off. Its ideas are broadly connected: you introduce the application, explain your student status, and mention an interview and CV. However, the body is compressed into one paragraph and does not progress through all three requested points. The link between studying nearby and being suitable for the job is not made clear, and the closing request follows abruptly. To improve organisation, use separate paragraphs for your current situation, relevant qualities or experience, and interview availability. Connect each point explicitly so the reader can follow the application without having to infer your reasoning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a small set of relevant terms, including “apply,” “part time job,” “interview,” and “CV,” so the basic purpose is understandable. However, the vocabulary range is limited, and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes the letter less clear and professional. For example, “heard the news of waitress recruited” does not express the vacancy naturally, while “Please kind me the consideration” is difficult to interpret. The phrase “suitable for me to balance my study and work” also needs more precise wording. Build a wider set of job-application expressions and choose collocations carefully; for instance, refer to a “waitress vacancy” and ask the manager to “consider my application.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The letter includes simple sentences and an attempt at a longer sentence explaining your studies and reason for applying. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to understand. In “I heard the news of waitress recruited your restaurant currently,” the verb structure is incomplete; “I am MS student of a university that situated” is missing articles and a correctly formed relative clause. There are also errors in “I also attaching my CV” and “Please kindly let me know the suitable interview time.” Capitalisation of “i” is inconsistent. Practise accurate sentence patterns for describing your current studies, experience, and availability, then check articles, verb forms, and punctuation.
