From:Saim
City:ABC,
Subject: letter to hotel manager for the job of waiter
Mam/Sir,
I have seen the advertisement of your hotel in the newspaper. You hotels hire the male/female waiter.I’m interested in advertisement.
Reason for my interest is that’s because im already work as a waiter in and other hotel which is located in any other city. I’m working in this from almost couple of years. For now a days I’m on my leave to visit my family and my family is in this city.
I have request to you kindly hire me because if you can hire me then I can move to my family and I allow my self to go home daily .
If you like to conduct my interviews, I have no problem. You can take my interview on next days after reciving my letter. I also attach my resume for more details.
Thank you
You sincerely,
Saim

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: it mentions current employment, explains suitability through experience, and suggests an interview. However, the development of these points is quite limited. The explanation of suitability is somewhat repetitive and lacks professional detail, and the tone is inconsistent for a formal job application. While the task requirements are met, the ideas are not fully extended or supported with professional language, which limits the effectiveness of the communication. To improve, you should focus on providing more specific details about your skills and professional background to better persuade the employer.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into short paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is very limited and often mechanical. For example, the transition 'Reason for my interest is that’s because' is awkward and redundant. There is a lack of variety in linking words, and the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. The paragraphing is present but could be more effectively used to separate the different requirements of the task. Improving the use of transition signals like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition' would help create a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on simple words like 'hotel', 'waiter', and 'job'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'I allow my self to go home daily', which does not convey the intended meaning clearly. The word choice is often informal or imprecise, which is not ideal for a formal application letter. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your vocabulary to include more professional and topic-specific terms related to the hospitality industry and formal correspondence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include incorrect article usage ('the advertisement of your hotel'), subject-verb agreement ('You hotels hire'), and awkward sentence structures ('I have request to you kindly hire me'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent, particularly in the salutation and closing. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence variety and proofreading for basic errors would be beneficial.
