Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: current activities, suitability, and interview availability. However, the tone is inconsistent and often informal, which is not ideal for a formal job application. The introduction is repetitive and lacks a professional structure. While the content covers the requirements, the development of ideas is somewhat simplistic. For example, the explanation of why you are suitable relies on basic statements like 'my dressing sense are good' rather than a more professional articulation of your skills. To improve, ensure the tone remains formal throughout and focus on presenting your experience in a more structured, professional manner.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter is divided into paragraphs, which helps with organization. However, the flow between sentences is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes misused, such as starting sentences with 'So' or 'Than'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the progression of ideas feels mechanical. For example, the transition between your experience at KFC and your resignation is repetitive. To achieve a higher band, you should use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that logically leads to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, often relying on simple structures to convey meaning. There are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'resturants', 'diplome', and 'cutomers'. The phrase 'my dressing sense are good' is unnatural and grammatically incorrect. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited to everyday language. To improve, you should focus on learning industry-specific terminology related to hospitality and ensure you are using correct collocations. Expanding your range of adjectives and verbs will help you express your professional suitability more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('my dressing sense are good'), incorrect verb tenses ('i am started job'), and article usage errors. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors that can cause some difficulty for the reader. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with fragments like 'So.' and 'Than' appearing at the end of sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, before attempting more complex structures.
