Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all three bullet points: current employment, suitability, and interview availability. However, the content is underdeveloped and lacks the necessary detail expected in a formal letter. Furthermore, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the score. To improve, you should expand on your specific experience as a waitress, explain why you are a good fit for this particular restaurant, and use a more professional tone throughout the letter.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter lacks a clear structure. It is written as a single block of text rather than using distinct paragraphs for the introduction, body, and conclusion. The flow of ideas is somewhat disjointed, and there is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences together. For example, the transition between your current job and your desire to study is abrupt. Using linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition' would help create a more logical progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the effectiveness of your application. Phrases like 'it's really great' and 'I am suitable' are too informal and lack the precision required for a formal job application. There are also some errors in word choice, such as 'adverting' instead of 'advertisement'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more professional vocabulary related to the hospitality industry and ensure your spelling is accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors and punctuation issues. There are run-on sentences, such as 'I am working as a waitress in kabab Jee it's really great and I enjoy working here', and issues with capitalization and sentence structure. The tone is overly conversational ('How are you?') rather than professional. You need to focus on using more complex sentence structures and ensuring that your punctuation, particularly with commas and periods, is accurate to improve clarity and professionalism.
