Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all three bullet points: current employment, suitability, and interview availability. However, the letter is slightly under the 150-word minimum, which impacts the overall task completion. The ideas are presented but lack depth; for instance, the explanation of suitability is quite brief. To improve, you should expand on your specific skills or previous duties in the hotel industry to better demonstrate your qualifications. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal application, though the structure could be more professional. Ensure you meet the minimum word count in future tasks to avoid a penalty.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter follows a logical sequence, moving from the purpose of the letter to current status, suitability, and finally the request for an interview. However, the paragraphing is poor; the entire body is essentially one block of text, which makes it difficult to read. Cohesive devices are limited and somewhat repetitive (e.g., 'I will be thankful to you'). To reach a higher band, you must use clear paragraph breaks to separate your ideas and incorporate a wider range of linking words and phrases to improve the flow between sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is functional but basic. You rely on simple phrases like 'doing a job' and 'give me a chance'. There are some awkward collocations, such as 'With reference of an authentic newspaper', which should be 'With reference to an advertisement in your local newspaper'. The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little attempt to use more sophisticated or industry-specific terminology. To improve, focus on learning formal business collocations and synonyms for common verbs to add precision and variety to your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I have came to know' (should be 'I have come to know') and 'I have enough experience or working' (should be 'experience of working'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited use of complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly regarding spacing after commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering verb tenses, specifically the present perfect, and ensure you proofread for basic subject-verb agreement and punctuation errors.
