Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response successfully covers all three bullet points required by the task. You have explained your current situation as a university student studying Pharm D, described your suitability by highlighting traits such as being friendly, hardworking, and responsible, and stated your availability for an interview on weekdays after 3 p.m. The tone of the letter is generally polite and appropriate for a job application. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and brief, particularly in describing your suitability without prior restaurant experience. While all prompt requirements are addressed, expanding slightly on your transferable skills or enthusiasm for hospitality would elevate the task response. Overall, the communication of the message is clear, earning a solid Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks proper sentence boundaries and capitalization, which significantly impacts cohesion and readability. For example, sentences run together without periods, such as 'At present i am a university student... and i looked for a part time job'. There are also structural errors in paragraphing and closing formatting, with the sign-off merging into extraneous details like 'yours faithfully Arooj Zahrira father name zameer ul Hassan'. Cohesive devices are minimal, and the lack of punctuation makes the logical progression harder to follow than necessary. Although the overall message can be pieced together, the poor control over punctuation and paragraph structure prevents the response from achieving a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate to convey your message, using everyday terms like 'friendly', 'hardworking', 'punctuated' (intended as punctual), and 'part time job'. You attempt some less common expressions such as 'label to work under pressure' (likely meaning 'able to work under pressure') and 'awaiter', but these contain noticeable word-form and spelling errors. Furthermore, there are several typographical and vocabulary slips, such as writing 'greatful' instead of 'grateful' and 'u' instead of 'you'. While the vocabulary is sufficient for the examiner to understand your core application, the frequency of lexical and spelling inaccuracies limits the lexical score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammatical range is quite limited, consisting mostly of simple and occasionally compound structures that are heavily impacted by punctuation errors. There is a complete absence of standard capitalization and terminal punctuation throughout the body of the letter, leading to run-on sentences like 'I am also punctual and label to work Under pressure although i do not have much experience as awaiter i am willing to to learn quickly'. Errors in grammar and spelling are frequent, including word repetitions ('to to') and incorrect word forms ('label' instead of 'able'). Because these persistent mechanical and grammatical errors impede smooth reading and cause frequent difficulty for the reader, the grammar performance aligns with Band 5.0.
