Student answer (Band 7.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to apply for the position of waiter advertised in your local newspaper. I am very interested in this opportunity and believe that my skills and personal qualities make me a suitable candidate for the position.

At present, I have recently completed my Intermediate in Computer Science (ICS) and am preparing for the IELTS examination. Alongside my studies, I am looking for part-time employment that will allow me to gain practical experience and develop my communication skills.

I believe I would be well suited to working as a waiter because I am friendly, polite and responsible. I enjoy interacting with people and can communicate effectively with customers. In addition, I am able to work under pressure, follow instructions carefully and cooperate well with other members of staff. Although I have not worked as a waiter before, I am a quick learner and am confident that I could acquire the necessary skills in a short period of time.

I would be available to attend an interview at any time after 3 p.m. on weekdays. I would be grateful if you could give me the opportunity to discuss my application further. I look forward to hearing from you.
