Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, though the development is quite basic. You successfully explain your current occupation as a waiter at KFC, describe your suitability by mentioning personal traits such as being honest and hardworking, and state when you can attend an interview. However, the tone and format are somewhat informal and lack the standard conventions of a formal application letter. To reach a higher band, you should expand more fully on your previous experience and present your points with better elaboration and a more appropriate formal register, while ensuring all bullet points are addressed with greater depth.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response suffers significantly from a lack of proper punctuation, capitalization, and paragraphing. The entire text is written as one large, continuous block of sentences without periods or commas, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical progression. While there are some basic cohesive links such as 'that's why' and 'because', the absence of structural markers and standard punctuation means that cohesion is faulty and mechanical. To improve, you must divide your letter into logical paragraphs (such as a greeting, an introduction, experience, and an interview request) and use correct punctuation throughout.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, relying on everyday terms like 'job', 'work', 'good', and 'time'. There are several spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'refernece' instead of reference, 'newpaper' instead of newspaper, and 'pervious sides' instead of previous workplaces. You attempt some job-related vocabulary like 'waiter', 'dish washer', and 'experience', but the range is limited and inadequate for a higher band score. To enhance your lexical resource, you should incorporate a wider variety of precise nouns, adjectives, and professional collocations suitable for a job application.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical range is severely limited, consisting mainly of simple sentences linked together improperly by coordinating words or run-on structures. There is a total lack of standard punctuation, meaning capital letters and full stops are entirely missing. Numerous grammatical errors are present, including subject-verb agreement issues ('i have also a experience', 'i believe have suitability'), tense inconsistencies, and fragment sentences. Because of the constant punctuation and grammatical errors, reading is strained, placing this response firmly in the lower bands for grammar.
