Student answer (Band 4.5)
Nowadays, taking break between finishing school and starting university in order to gain work experience or to travel is becoming an increasingly important issue in many parts of the world. While some people believe that It can cause negative effects to the students, I completely agree with the view that students should travel or get real work experience in between of their school and college life.
There are several reasons why I hold this view. The primary reason is that students will get to know about finances and resource management. This is
because students will learn how to manage their expenses day to day activity with minimum resources. For example, A student work for a year before their university he can get to know how the real world and the real project are works. Therefore, traveling and experiencing before starting new journey is crucial.
Another important reason is that traveling allows students to improve valuable soft skills. In other words, communication with strangers and making decision by themselves is the skill that student will only learn by exploring new things. For instance, A student travel and manage their expenses as well as communicates with strangers to survive, it is an essential skills. As a result, students will be more confident and motivated without any fear.
In conclusion, although attending university directly after completing the school may have some merit, I believe that students should explore the real world and travel because they will learn resource management and soft skills which is very essential for individual lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The student has written an essay on the topic of taking a gap year between school and university, which is completely off-topic for the provided prompt. The prompt specifically requires a General Training letter to a local restaurant applying for a job as a waiter or waitress, including what the student is currently doing, suitability for the work, and when they can attend an interview. Because the student has addressed an entirely different task type and topic, Task Achievement cannot be credited adequately for this prompt, resulting in a low band score of 3.0. The content completely misses the required format, register, and specific bullet points of the letter writing task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
Despite being off-topic, the text itself exhibits a clear organizational structure with an introduction, body paragraphs supported by examples, and a conclusion. The student uses basic cohesive devices such as 'The primary reason is', 'For example', and 'In conclusion' to signal logical progression. Paragraphing is appropriately used to separate distinct points. However, referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical over-use of certain transition phrases limits the higher-level flow. Cohesion is adequate for a Band 5.0 level as the ideas are grouped logically within paragraphs, even though the content is misplaced.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for expressing opinions, using terms such as 'finances', 'resource management', 'communication', and 'motivation'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors throughout the response, such as 'taking break' instead of 'taking a break', 'in between of their school', and 'a student work for a year before their university he can get to know how the real world and the real project are works'. These lexical inaccuracies and awkward phrasings cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a Band 5.0 level of lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing subordinating clauses such as 'While some people believe that...' and 'because students will learn...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors in verb tense and agreement, such as 'are works', 'A student travel', and 'skills which is very essential'. Punctuation and article usage also show persistent flaws. Because complex structures are frequently faulty and errors are numerous enough to cause strain, the writing aligns with the Band 5.0 descriptors for grammatical range and accuracy.
