Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the main parts of the task, including current activities, suitability, and interview availability, but the development of these ideas is limited and sometimes unclear. For instance, the mention of current work as a teacher is briefly stated without deeper connection to customer service skills. While the tone attempts to be appropriate for a letter, the overall progression and focus lack clarity. To move to a higher level, the response needs to fully extend and support all points with more relevant details, ensuring the purpose of the letter is clearly conveyed throughout without abrupt shifts in focus.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation present, but the letter lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is irregular and does not follow standard conventions for a formal letter, with erratic spacing and indentation. Cohesive devices are minimal, inadequate, and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'so' and 'because' without smooth linking. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it hard for the reader to follow the flow of ideas. Improving logical sequencing, adopting standard paragraphing, and using a wider range of cohesive devices naturally would significantly enhance the overall structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as 'aaply' instead of apply, 'potencial' instead of potential, and 'communicational skills' instead of communication skills. Word choice is sometimes unnatural or inappropriate for a formal application letter, as seen in phrases like 'Bylook i am younger a pretty'. Spelling and word form errors occur frequently, which occasionally causes difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to expand their lexical range, incorporate less common vocabulary with greater precision, and pay closer attention to spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences, while attempts at more varied structures are often faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and capitalization, such as missing capital letters at the beginning of sentences and after full stops, incorrect verb forms like 'i want to aaply', and missing articles. These errors can cause some difficulty for the reader and impede smooth reading. To progress, the writer should practice using a wider variety of complex sentence forms with better control over basic grammatical rules, punctuation, and subject-verb agreement.
