Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by explaining current employment, highlighting suitability, and stating interview availability. However, the development of ideas is limited and mechanical, as seen in the brief explanations of current duties and suitability. Additionally, the response falls short of the minimum length requirement of 150 words, coming in at 138 words. To reach a higher level, you should expand on your current responsibilities and elaborate further on your relevant background rather than relying on brief, repetitive statements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organization with an appropriate opening and closing salutation, and paragraph breaks are attempted. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and cohesive devices are inadequate or misused. For instance, sentences are often disconnected or abruptly transitioned, such as moving from your experience directly into personal traits with limited connective tissue. Paragraphing is also erratic, with single-sentence paragraphs disrupting the flow. To improve, you should group related ideas into coherent paragraphs and use a wider range of logical connectors to link sentences smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are several noticeable errors in spelling, word choice, and word form, such as "advertise" instead of "advertised", "newpaper" instead of "newspaper", "shereton" instead of a standard capitalisation, and "waitring servicses" instead of "waiting services". Repetition of basic terms like "position" and "waiter" restricts the range. To achieve a higher score, you need to incorporate a broader range of less common lexical items and ensure accurate spelling and word formation throughout.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The grammar demonstrates a very limited range of structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences alongside faulty attempts at complex ones. Frequent errors are present across the text, including missing articles ("a very calm and polite person" needs an article), pronoun omissions ("because i have experience" and lowercase "i"), incorrect verb forms ("I would be attend"), and preposition errors. These errors require some effort for the reader to interpret. To progress, focus on increasing sentence variety and improving control over auxiliary verbs, prepositions, and basic sentence construction.
