Date: 13 October, 2026.
Respected Employer,
I hope you are doing well. I have recently gone through a newspaper, in which your hiring for waiters and waitresses are advertised. I am a student here, and I am studying currently. I am a international student here, and I came here two weeks before.
Back in my home country, I have worked as a waiter for 4 months. Through it I have a little bit experience in it. I need this work part time to meet my daily financial requirements. I can work 20 hours a week and also on weekends and holidays. And in my college holidays I can work full time 40 or 50 hours a week. I can give my interview at 5'0 clock on saturday evening. I have my resume connected with this letter for your review. Thankyou for this opportunity.
Your Sincerely,
Dawood Saqib

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you explain that you are a student and international newcomer, describe four months of waiter experience and your availability, and offer an interview time. These details make the application relevant and understandable. However, some points are less fully developed than others. For example, “I have a little bit experience” does not explain what skills you gained, such as serving customers or working under pressure, and “5'0 clock on saturday evening” does not identify a precise date or confirm whether the time suits the restaurant. Add one or two specific strengths and state a clear interview date and time to make the application more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter follows a generally sensible order: it introduces the application, gives background and experience, then covers availability and the interview. The paragraph break also helps separate the introduction from the main details. However, the progression within the second paragraph is somewhat list-like, with several points joined by “And” and “also,” rather than clearly grouped. The repeated “I am” statements in the opening make the information feel less connected, while “Through it” has an unclear reference. Organise the experience and suitability together, then present working hours and interview availability in a separate closing paragraph. More precise linking and referencing would make the letter easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main application details, including “part time,” “financial requirements,” “weekends and holidays,” and “resume.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are unnatural or imprecise, such as “your hiring for waiters and waitresses are advertised,” “a little bit experience,” and “resume connected with this letter.” These choices make the letter sound less professional, even though the intended meaning is usually clear. Choose conventional job-application phrases and more precise terms for your experience and availability. Check spelling and written forms as well: “Thankyou” should be written as two words, and “saturday” needs a capital letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response relies mainly on simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to combine ideas, such as “I can work 20 hours a week and also on weekends and holidays.” Some grammatical errors occur, but the main message remains understandable. For example, “your hiring … are advertised” has a subject–verb agreement problem and an awkward clause structure; “I am a international student” needs the correct article; and “I have a little bit experience” is missing a grammatical determiner or quantifier. The sentence beginning “And in my college holidays” is also not well integrated with the preceding sentence. Practise accurate articles, agreement, and sentence joining, while varying structures beyond repeated short statements.
