Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the main purpose by applying for the waiter role, explaining that you are a university student seeking part-time work, and offering interview times. You also give relevant information about weekend availability and your customer-service experience. However, the suitability point is only briefly supported: “I know how to cook or customer service” does not clearly explain your experience or strengths as a waiter. The extra offer of your friend’s contact details distracts from your own application, and the interview options are confusing because several times are listed without a clear, consistent choice. Develop your relevant skills and availability more clearly, and keep the letter focused on your candidacy.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The reader can identify the basic sequence of your message: you introduce yourself, describe your availability, suggest interview times, and provide contact details. However, the response is presented as one long block, so the different points are not clearly separated. Linking words such as “also” are repeated, and the sequence of interview options—Friday or Tuesday at 9:00 PM, then Friday at 10:00 AM and Tuesday at 8:00 AM or 10:00 PM—is difficult to follow. The friend’s job enquiry also interrupts the progression of your application. Use short paragraphs for your introduction, suitability and availability, and interview arrangements, with clear transitions and one or two unambiguous interview options.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “part time job,” “customer service,” “weekends,” and “interview.” However, the range is limited, and some word choices or collocations are unclear, such as “labor management” and “the closest place to the university.” Spelling errors—including “wiht,” “becouse,” and “restauant”—are noticeable and reduce the clarity and professional impression of the application. The informal phrases “Hey” and “see you later” are also not well suited to a job application letter. Choose more precise employment vocabulary and use a polite, professional register, for example, “Dear Hiring Manager” and “I look forward to hearing from you.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your message relies mainly on simple clauses joined together, with limited control of more varied sentence structures. Frequent errors sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. For example, “I study at the university also I looking for” needs a conjunction and a correctly formed verb phrase, while “I can work on weekends full time but not the days of the week” has an unclear grammatical contrast. The long sentence combining your skills, schedule, and your friend’s details also needs to be divided into shorter sentences. Practise accurate present-tense forms, articles, and sentence boundaries, and use full stops to separate each main point.
