Dear Manager,

I was reading the newspaper yesterday while drinking the tea, where i find out the advertisement on that paper about job vacancy for waiters for your restaurant. So i decided to contact on the number that written under the advertisement. My name is Arslan Ashraf and i have completed my Computer science degree an year ago from PMAS (Peer Maher Ali Shah) university. For last 1 year i am in search of job but still can not find any job. I really need this job. The area of restaurant is close to me my house and i can arrive there any time. I am very good in communication skills because of this i can deal any customer in very well manners. I have also a little bit experience of this job when i was in university. Right now i am out of city for my personal work i can available for the interview after 2 days. Time for interview must be in evening because day time i have to attend computer course classes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you explain that you are currently looking for work and attending computer classes, describe communication skills and some previous restaurant experience, and state that you can attend an interview after two days in the evening. These details make the application relevant and understandable. However, suitability is only partly developed: “a little bit experience” is not supported with examples of duties or customer-service skills, and saying you “really need this job” focuses on personal need rather than what you can offer the restaurant. The current situation is also somewhat unclear because you say you are searching for work but do not clearly state your present activity until later. Explain your experience and availability more precisely to strengthen the application.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The information follows a broadly sensible order, moving from the advertisement and your background to your suitability and interview availability. However, it is presented as one continuous paragraph, so the different purposes of the letter are not clearly separated. Several links are also awkward or repetitive, particularly the sequence “So i decided to contact…” and “My name is…”. The opening spends considerable space describing reading the newspaper, while the key application details could be easier to locate. Use short paragraphs—for example, one for your current situation and experience, and another for availability—and connect ideas with clear, natural transitions. This would give the letter a more visible progression and make it easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough relevant vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “advertisement,” “communication skills,” “customer,” and “interview.” However, several phrases are imprecise or unnatural for a job application, such as “contact on the number,” “deal any customer in very well manners,” and “a little bit experience of this job.” “I really need this job” is understandable but does not present your professional strengths effectively. The vocabulary is therefore adequate for the topic, though errors in collocation and phrasing reduce naturalness and precision. Aim for standard application language and specific terms for your experience, such as describing customer service or restaurant duties.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate the main message using a mixture of simple sentences and some longer structures, including “because of this i can deal…” and the sentence explaining your interview availability. However, there are some recurring errors in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “For last 1 year i am in search of job” needs a more suitable tense and article, while “i can available” is missing a verb form. The sentence beginning “Right now i am out of city” also needs clearer grammatical construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, especially the repeated lowercase “i” and the long run-on sequence of ideas. Practise accurate present-perfect forms and divide longer sentences into complete, punctuated units.
