Mr Julian, HR of "BON APPETIT" restaurant,

Date: 22/10/2026

Dear Julian,

I am Nour El Houda and I am writing this letter to apply for the post of waitresses in your restaurant which I saw advertized in the October newspaper.

I am currently looking for a job to develop my skills and improve my experiences. With over 3 years of experience in previous restaurants and coffee shops, I learned the ins and outs of the industry, including food handeling techniques and how to take orders efficiently in a 120+ seat restaurant. I also served as a bartender at "BeerHouse" where i was introduced to proper cleaning techniques to maintain a hygienic dining experienced. This experience also taught me how to handle difficult customer with calmness, patience and politess.

I also obtain 2 certificates in French and Italian, which can be helpful when serving tourists or foreign visitors.

All my experiences and skills would make me a great addition to your new establishment. I have attached my resume, which inclued more details about my accomplishments and personal details. I look forward to hearing from you and would love to visit your restaurant for an interview in the next few days. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerly,

Nour el Houda

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The letter addresses all three requested points: you explain that you are currently seeking work, describe relevant restaurant and coffee-shop experience, and indicate that you can attend an interview “in the next few days.” The examples of taking orders in a large restaurant and serving as a bartender make your suitability convincing. This meets the task well, and the specific experience shows some development beyond a basic list of qualities. However, your current situation is only briefly explained, and interview availability would be clearer if you offered particular days or times. The application would also feel more complete if you directly asked to be considered for the advertised position and used a consistently appropriate formal closing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information follows a clear, sensible order: application purpose, current situation and experience, language qualifications, then interview and closing. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and links such as “I also” and “This experience also taught me” make the progression easy to follow. The letter is coherent throughout. To make the organisation more polished, use a separate paragraph for your language certificates and another for your closing request, rather than placing several different functions together near the end. Some linking is repetitive, particularly the use of “also”; varying these transitions or connecting related details more directly would make cohesion feel more flexible and less formulaic.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of job-related vocabulary, including “take orders efficiently,” “hygienic,” “difficult customer,” and “accomplishments.” These details communicate relevant experience and show attempts to use specific language rather than relying only on general claims. Some spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, however: “advertized,” “handeling,” “experienced,” and “inclued” should be corrected, while “improve my experiences” is not a natural collocation. “Post of waitresses” is also awkward in a formal application. Aim for accurate, natural phrases such as “improve my experience,” “the position of waitress,” and “maintain a hygienic dining area.” Proofreading would help your vocabulary come across more confidently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the relative clause in “your restaurant which I saw…” and the time clause “where I was introduced…”. Most of the message remains understandable, and the longer sentences generally communicate your experience clearly. Some grammatical errors remain, though. In “I also obtain 2 certificates,” the verb should be “hold” or “have obtained”; “difficult customer” needs a plural or article, and “a hygienic dining experienced” should be “a hygienic dining experience.” Capitalisation is inconsistent in “i,” and the opening address and sign-off need more conventional punctuation. Check verb forms, articles, and singular/plural agreement when editing.
