Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify yourself, explain that you have completed your intermediate studies, and say you are seeking work. You also give a reason for applying, mentioning your family’s financial circumstances, and ask about an interview. However, the letter does not clearly describe why you are suitable for waiting work: being fascinated by technology and coming from a rural area do not demonstrate relevant skills or experience. The interview point is also incomplete because you ask when you can attend rather than offering specific availability. The response therefore addresses the task only partially, with important requested details missing or unclear. Add examples such as customer-service experience, communication skills, or reliability, and state days or times when you are available.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The message follows a basic letter sequence: greeting, introduction, explanation of your circumstances, request, and sign-off. This gives the reader a general sense of your purpose. However, most information is placed in one long paragraph, and the ideas move abruptly from your studies to technology, the advertisement, your location, and family expenses. Connections such as “Right now” and “Honestly speaking” are used, but they do not create a clear progression between the points. The repeated requests for a job also make the message feel less organised. Separate the letter into short paragraphs for your current situation, suitability, and interview availability, and use clear links to show how each point supports your application.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use basic vocabulary to communicate the main purpose, including “degree,” “job,” “interview,” and “expenses.” Some phrases, however, are inaccurate or unsuitable for a formal application, such as “I do nothing,” “I saw your ad in an advertisement,” and “I belong to a rarw area.” Spelling errors including “becuse,” “greateful,” and “rarw” also reduce clarity and control. The vocabulary is repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “job,” and there is little language describing qualities relevant to restaurant work. Use more precise expressions such as “I am currently seeking employment,” “I noticed your vacancy in the newspaper,” and “I am reliable and enjoy helping customers.” Proofreading spelling and choosing a consistently polite register would strengthen the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate the basic message using simple sentences and some attempts to combine ideas, for example, “I chose this degree because I have always been fascinated by technology.” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or awkward, as in “Hope so you're doing great” and “I request you tell me about when can I attend the interview.” The long sentence beginning “because recently my father has passed away” joins several ideas without clear grammatical control. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and repeated commas. Practise forming direct, complete sentences and indirect questions: “Could you please let me know when I could attend an interview?” Break long explanations into shorter sentences and check sentence boundaries, verb forms, and capital letters.
