Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You include relevant information about your current studies, previous waiter experience, and why you want to work at this restaurant. However, the response only partially fulfils the letter’s purpose: it does not say when you are available to attend an interview, and your suitability is supported mainly by your course and past job rather than by specific service skills or qualities. The explanation about leaving your previous role and choosing this restaurant is understandable, but it takes space without completing the interview request. The opening is also not a suitable formal salutation, and there is no closing or clear request for the employer to contact you. Addressing every bullet point and presenting the letter in a complete application format would make the response more effective.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The ideas are generally understandable and follow a basic sequence: you introduce yourself, explain your studies and experience, then give reasons for applying. This provides some organisation, and phrases such as “recently” and “as I mentioned above” help connect information. However, most of the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the different purposes of the letter are not clearly separated. Several links are repetitive or awkward, particularly the repeated use of “and” in the final section, which makes the progression feel less controlled. Use separate paragraphs for your introduction, suitability, and interview availability, and connect ideas with clearer transitions. A closing paragraph that states your availability would also give the letter a more complete and logical ending.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “student,” “previous job experience,” “resignation,” and “work efficiency.” The restaurant and employment context is clear, but the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the letter less natural. For example, “found the add” should be “saw the advertisement,” “my filed of study” should be “my field of study,” and “services to your restaurant” would be more naturally expressed as “work for your restaurant” or “contribute to your team.” Spelling errors such as “studing” and “Iam” are also noticeable. Build a more precise set of job-application phrases and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate through mostly simple sentence patterns, with some attempts to combine ideas using clauses such as “the reason of my resignation … is traveling between my residence and my work space.” However, these longer constructions are often difficult to control, and errors occur frequently enough to affect the smoothness of reading. Examples include “I am the student of university,” “which effect my work efficiency,” and “I will happy,” where articles, verb agreement, and the verb “be” are missing or incorrect. Capitalisation and sentence boundaries also need attention: several sentences begin with lowercase “i,” and the response runs together in a long paragraph. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking verb forms, articles, and punctuation in each sentence.
