Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The letter identifies the purpose—applying for a waitress position—and gives some relevant information about your current studies and claimed experience. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it does not say when you are available for an interview, and your suitability is asserted rather than supported with examples. The statement “I am very competence” also does not explain how your skills would help in restaurant work. The response is 88 words, below the required 150, so there is not enough development to cover the requested points fully. Add specific customer-service examples and a clear interview date or availability, then complete the letter with an appropriate closing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The reader can follow the basic purpose because the application, current studies and experience are presented in a broadly sensible order. However, the response is very brief and has no developed paragraph structure or clear progression beyond a list of claims. The opening “The managing director” followed by “Dear sir or madam” is awkwardly arranged, and the ideas about being a student, a skilled worker and suitable for the role are not linked or explained. Use a conventional greeting, then separate your current situation from your experience and availability. Linking phrases such as “In addition” or “For this reason” could help show how each detail supports your application.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for an application, including “applying,” “experience,” “communication skills” and “hardworking.” This gives the reader a basic understanding of your intended strengths. However, the range is limited, and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “serve you to the core” is not an appropriate way to describe your contribution, while “diverse experience” is vague without examples. “Skilled worker” is also too general to show what you can do in a restaurant. Choose precise terms connected to waiting tables, such as taking orders, assisting customers or working under pressure, and support each claim with a brief example.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response communicates its main message through mostly simple sentence patterns, but the range is limited and errors recur. For example, “I am applying …, i am currently” joins two independent clauses with a comma, and the pronoun “I” is repeatedly written in lowercase. The phrase “I am very competence” also has an incorrect grammatical form; use “I am very competent.” There are missing spaces after punctuation and inconsistent capitalisation in the university and department names. Practise separating complete sentences with full stops and checking subject–verb and word-form patterns. A few accurately controlled longer sentences would also help demonstrate a wider range.
