Dear HR Manager

I am Khizra. I am a graduate and I am currently not doing any job. I came across your advertisement for the position of waiter and waitress. I am very much interested in applying for waitress position as I am good at dealing with different kind of people. I have 2 years of experience in this field working as waitress at xyz restaurant from 01-02-2023 to 03-04-2025. In my previous job I have worked as a waitress and I was diligent in my work. I completed all my tasks timely. I made sure I am on time and followed the orders of my supervisor. I so have a certification in basic life skills (BLS) so I am always prepared for an emergency like choking that may happen in a restaurant. I have the skills you need for this position. I am also living nearby your restaurant so it will be easy to commute for me and come for work. I am available on Monday at 8:00 for an interview. I am attaching attached my resume for your reference. I will be looking forward for your response. Thankyou.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you explain that you are currently not working, describe relevant experience and personal qualities, and offer Monday at 8:00 for an interview. The two years at a restaurant, punctuality, and BLS certification make your application relevant, and the purpose is clear throughout. Some details are less fully developed: for example, you say you are “good at dealing with different kind of people” but do not give an example of how this helps in restaurant work. The interview time would also be clearer with a date and whether 8:00 means morning or evening. The response already includes useful supporting details; developing these and presenting the application in a more consistently formal letter style would strengthen it further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The information follows a generally sensible order, moving from your current situation to experience, suitability, interview availability, and closing. However, it is presented as one long paragraph, so the reader has little visual guidance through the different parts of the application. Several ideas are also joined repeatedly with “and” or “so,” as in “I am also living nearby your restaurant so it will be easy to commute for me.” This makes the progression feel list-like rather than clearly developed. Use separate paragraphs for your introduction, qualifications, and practical details, and choose linking phrases that show the relationship between ideas. Clearer paragraphing and less repetitive linking would make the letter easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough relevant vocabulary to communicate your application, including “experience,” “diligent,” “supervisor,” and “certification.” These details show some range beyond basic statements. However, several expressions are awkward or imprecise, such as “different kind of people,” “completed all my tasks timely,” and “prepared for an emergency like choking.” There are also spelling and word-form problems in “sincery” and “Thankyou,” while “I am attaching attached my resume” is an unclear phrase. These do not prevent the reader from understanding your main message, but they reduce naturalness and precision. Aim for standard professional collocations and proofread spelling and repeated words before sending the letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple sentences and some longer structures, and the main message remains understandable. There are, however, some errors in sentence construction, tense, agreement, and articles. For example, “I have 2 years of experience in this field working as waitress” needs an article before “waitress,” and “I made sure I am on time” shifts awkwardly between past and present. “I so have a certification” also disrupts the sentence structure, while “I am attaching attached my resume” contains an unnecessary repeated verb form. Punctuation and letter formatting need attention too, particularly the missing punctuation after the greeting and the run-on sequence of details. Review articles, tense consistency, and sentence boundaries to improve accuracy.
