Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the three requested points: you say you are studying at secondary school, give reasons for seeking work, describe some experience and communication ability, and state that you are available for an interview at weekends. However, suitability is only partly explained. “I have been their since 2010” does not make clear what you have been doing since then, and the school-project experience is not linked specifically to serving customers or working in a restaurant. The reason about financial needs is relevant, but could be expressed more clearly. To strengthen the application, give a specific example of customer-facing, teamwork, or service experience and explain how it would help you as a waiter. A more direct, professional closing would also complete the purpose effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a recognisable sequence: application, current circumstances, suitability, and interview availability. Paragraph breaks and signposting such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “Finally” help the reader identify these sections. However, the progression within the suitability paragraph is not always clear: the move from being known in the town to working with people from outside it does not explain how either experience demonstrates restaurant skills. Some linking expressions feel mechanical, and “Consequently, behind studying” interrupts the connection between the financial explanation and the rest of the paragraph. Organise each paragraph around one clear point and use links that show the actual relationship between ideas. Clearer references would also help readers understand what “there” refers to.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to an application, including “interested,” “communication,” “customer,” and “attend the interview,” so the main purpose is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, which can make the reader pause. For example, “interested for the job” is not the natural expression, “serve national and international customer” is awkward, and “serve the nation at your hotel” does not fit the context of applying to a restaurant. There are also spelling errors such as “secondry” and “accomodation.” Aim for precise, conventional phrases for work experience, customer service, and availability, and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes mostly simple sentence patterns and attempts some longer structures, for example, “I have to do a job too in order to maintain my financial status and my daily expenses.” However, complex attempts are often faulty or incomplete, as in “Consequently, behind studying,” which is not a complete sentence, and “I would glad to serve,” which is missing a verb form. Other errors include “I have been their since 2010” and “I can attend the interview on any weekend days of a week.” Capitalisation of “i” is also inconsistent. These problems sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Practise complete clauses and accurate verb patterns, then proofread articles, prepositions, and sentence boundaries.
