Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You give a clear overall opinion in favour of a gap year, especially when you say it offers “relax freedom space” and helps with stress and mental health. You also include relevant examples, such as travelling to Islamabad and Lahore, spending time with family, and trying small businesses or content creation. However, the response only minimally develops the task: it does not clearly explain how these experiences benefit students specifically when they return to education, and some points—such as trauma and universities admitting students based on age—are unclear or unsupported. The response is also one word below the required minimum. To strengthen your answer, explain two or three benefits in detail and connect each directly to university study, while briefly acknowledging the possible drawbacks you mention.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a recognisable overall direction: you introduce gap years, state that you agree, and give examples of travel and activities. However, ideas are not arranged coherently enough, and the response is largely one continuous block rather than clearly developed paragraphs. Several points run together—for example, the discussion of universities, relaxation, communication skills, travel, and earning money—so the reader has to work to identify how they relate. Linking words such as “but,” “because,” and “after” are used repeatedly, sometimes without making the relationship between ideas clear. Organise the essay into an introduction, separate body paragraphs for the benefits and examples, and a conclusion. Use clearer transitions and refer back to the central question about returning to education.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “communication skill,” “mental health,” “small business,” and “content creation,” and your examples show an attempt to discuss different gap-year activities. However, the vocabulary is basic and often repetitive, particularly “we learn,” “we get,” and “we spent.” Several spelling errors and inaccurate word choices make parts difficult to understand, such as “tauntness,” “ginishing,” and “historicall place.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “travelling tours” and “we get buy any thing.” Build a more precise range for discussing benefits and drawbacks, and check spelling and collocations. For instance, describe how travel can broaden students’ perspectives or how work can develop practical skills, rather than repeating general claims about learning skills.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You communicate a general position and attempt to connect ideas using clauses with “because,” “when,” and “after.” However, sentence structures are very limited, and frequent errors in sentence boundaries, verb forms, agreement, and articles often make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “most of student take” needs a plural noun and determiner, while “it effect on their mental health” has an incorrect verb form and sentence pattern. The long run-on sentences also lack punctuation, making it hard to see where one idea ends and another begins. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine related ideas accurately. Check subject–verb agreement, past and present tense consistency, articles, and full stops before submitting.
