Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some adult students choose to off for one year from their academic journey before starting the university education to obtain work experience or explore new places. This will help them for the remining standards in the future. I completely agree with the statement because it provides some practical experience or experience the world by traveling.
On the first hand, The undergraduate students took off for a year. That will help them to gain some working experience in their field. For example, if the arts students who want to do MBA in abroad, the university required minimum of one year professional experience in their field that matches the curriculum of the MBA program. Therefore, taking one year off from studies and gain practical knowledge helps them in the further studies.
On the other hand, some are argued that taking leave from studies and do travel for a year because it helps the students who are in the confusion of what we do next. They didn't take decision about their future plans because of a lot of options in front of them. For instant, the students who are unable to choose what to do next after their secondary education, they go for the holiday and explore new places, build new connections and off from the educational pressure. That will help them to improve their mental health and take good decision for their further studies.
In conclusion, Adult students who are taking one year off from their studies will help them in the future. I completely agree with this statement, because it will help them to gain work experience and get some time to take the good decision for their future studies.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as gaining professional experience and mental health benefits. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding MBA students is a bit specific and could have been better integrated to explain the broader benefits of a gap year. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments lack depth and could be more thoroughly explored to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed, but the development is somewhat basic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the first hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, some of these are used incorrectly or mechanically; for example, 'On the first hand' is not standard English. Additionally, the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'They didn't take decision about their future plans', where the pronoun 'they' lacks a clear antecedent in the preceding context. Paragraphing is present but could be more effectively managed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'choose to off for one year' instead of 'take a year off', and 'remining standards' which is unclear. The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'curriculum' and 'professional experience', but the overall lexical control is limited. Frequent errors in collocation and word formation are present, though they do not generally impede the reader's understanding of the main points.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('some are argued'), incorrect verb forms ('taking leave... and do travel'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization after commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The student needs to focus on sentence construction and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy.
