Student answer (Band 6.0)

There are many students who take a drop between their college and school to gain more experience in work or travel their dream destinations because non-academic life experience can be beneficial when they return to academics

It is true and i completely agree with the statement and the idea of taking drop between after school and starting university because this phase really helps students to find their interest ,it also helps to manage time to pursue their hobby and have some break after school life to find purpose in life.

After school taking drop can really help student to make decision in their life which is in his favor for example many students after school blindly follows each other to choose course they relies on the other students and this phase is very important in life it decides where your life will be in next 4-5 years of degree decides your work ,your life hence it should be decided after planning. the time which students get really helps them to find the thing which they like and what they want to do for rest of their life if they want to follow profession or become entrepreneur or want to do job.

Most students travels during this time to find their purpose because life is not only about academic progress, there are many important things and lessons which are waiting for them apart from study in their life. hence it is essential for everyone to travel more to understand life out side school and colleges. because of schools and underage they rarely get a chance to experience it so it is good to do these things and have time for their self so they can also work on their hobby by joining relevant classes such as music , singing , sports and many more.

so , after all in my opinion it is very good idea and decision to make for their life by taking drop and get to know about world apart from academics before starting university and work on their career i believe everyone should have small break before return to study.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of taking a gap year. The ideas, such as gaining self-awareness and managing time for hobbies, are relevant. However, the development is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument about 'following others' is mentioned but not fully explored with a concrete example. The response tends to over-generalize, and the conclusion simply restates the introduction without adding a final synthesizing thought. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, illustrative examples and ensure each paragraph adds a distinct layer to your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or missing. Transitions between sentences are frequently abrupt, and there is an over-reliance on simple connectors like 'because' and 'hence'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the subject of the sentence shifts awkwardly. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure that each sentence flows logically from the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good idea', 'things', and 'do'. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'take a drop' instead of 'take a gap year' or 'take a break'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary or idiomatic expressions limits the score. You should aim to incorporate more topic-specific collocations related to education, personal development, and career planning to demonstrate a broader lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede readability. Issues include missing articles (e.g., 'after school'), incorrect verb forms, and run-on sentences that lack proper punctuation. For example, the sentence 'this phase is very important in life it decides where your life will be' is a comma splice/run-on. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
