Student answer (Band 4.5)

This is an importnat year of our life it is best if you take rest from study and you do any work for learning or a gaining a new experience . If you do work relative to your field its may a many benefits on your academics life . If you do work either then your field its have no benefits and it is a waste of time .

There is a two type of student ; First type of student is those who take a year between school and universty . These student do work in this year according to their field and gain a physical knowledge how in real all things are happening and how everything is implement . This short time period gives a large benefit in study ,because he knows any thing before studying in physical life . And he takes a big knowledge how to manage our life and how can handle things in daily life ,and he knows hoe to manage our time .

And the scond type of student is those who take a year between in study but they can not use this time in proper maner .And these waste her time in meaning less activites .And they waste her time in rest they can not understand the importance of this time . when they comeback to her study after wasting a year they forget all knowledge of previous education , and come back with blank mind they do waste of two things first time and second knowledge.

In my opinion, So this gape year is best for those who take it serious . If you dont take it serious there is no resons for taking this yeaar.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the benefits of taking a gap year for relevant work experience and the drawbacks of wasting the year. The position is clear throughout, as the writer outlines two distinct types of students to illustrate their view. However, the ideas are relatively basic and lack fully developed supporting examples from broader knowledge, relying instead on generalisations. For example, the assertion that working outside your field has no benefits is overly simplistic and under-developed. While all parts of the prompt are addressed, the depth of exploration corresponds to a Band 5 or 6. Because the writer does attempt to present a reasoned viewpoint with distinct arguments and covers the core task requirements, it satisfies the criteria for Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs representing contrasting student types, and a brief conclusion. However, the overall progression is somewhat hampered by repetitive structures and mechanical transitional phrases such as 'There is a two type of student' and 'And the scond type of student is those'. Referencing is frequently unclear, notably with pronouns like 'they' and 'he' shifting awkwardly or referring ambiguously to antecedents. Cohesive devices are used rather simplistically and often incorrectly at the start of sentences, creating a choppy and disjointed reading experience. There is basic organisation, but logical progression is weak. This places the response firmly at Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is basic, repetitive, and often inaccurate, reflecting a limited range inadequate for precise expression. The student frequently misuses words or employs incorrect collocations, such as 'importnat year of our life', 'gaining a new experience', 'physical knowledge', and 'proper maner'. There are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, including 'importnat', 'universty', 'maner', 'meaning less', 'comeback', and 'gape year'. These errors occasionally cause strain for the reader and demonstrate a lack of control over less common lexical items. The lexical resource displayed is characteristic of Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 given the basic communicative adequacy, but due to severe spelling and word choice limitations, a Band 4.5 is most accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying primarily on simple sentences and flawed attempts at complex structures connected by repetitive coordinating conjunctions like 'and'. Frequent and pervasive grammatical errors occur in almost every sentence, including subject-verb agreement issues ('it is have no benefits', 'These student do work'), missing articles ('take rest from study', 'with blank mind'), incorrect prepositions, and faulty verb tenses ('they can not understand', 'they forget all knowledge'). Punctuation is also problematic, with spaces placed incorrectly before punctuation marks. These frequent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader, matching the descriptors for Band 4.0.
