Student answer (Band 5.0)

There will be ongoing debate about whether the young people choose to take a year out between finishing school and starting in order to gain work experience or to travel. Some people believe that the one year work experience or to travel is a beneficial for young people between the school and starting university. But others do not agree this statement. I really agree with this statement because it is the good oppertunity for the students to complete thier school study. I will dicuss the ideas aboutthis topic in the upcoming paragraphs.

First of all, the work experience is very important for students who complete their school studies, because their mind is not mature at that time. For example, the students go to the work for different areas to do the work, they are learning new things in our life. They communicate with other person, and their communication skills have improved. I really agree with this statement because this is very beneficial for the students before starting a university.

Furthermore, the travel is another good point for the student before start the university study. For example, Students travel to work place by either bus or bike, they can explore the different places and communicate the different type of a people in our society, their minds are fully mature for the next step.

In conclusion, I agree this statement the student complete their school study, the work experience and travel is very important thing for every student to starting a university study. Because, their minds are fully matured and gain all the ideas easily. There are not any difficulty in their professional life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You state a clear overall view—“I really agree”—and give reasons related to work experience and travel, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the task is only partly addressed because the benefits are asserted more than explained. For instance, you say that work helps students improve communication skills, but do not show how this would help them when they return to university. The travel example focuses on travelling to a workplace by bus or bike, rather than taking a year to travel and gaining broader non-academic experience. The claim that students’ minds become “fully mature” and face no professional difficulties is also too general. Develop each reason with a specific example and connect it directly to education.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “First of all” and “Furthermore,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify your main points. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and several ideas repeat rather than build on one another. For example, the claim that the experience is “very beneficial” appears in both the introduction and first body paragraph, while the conclusion repeats that students become mature without adding a final insight. Some links between sentences are unclear, particularly the shift from travelling to a workplace to exploring different places. Organise each body paragraph around one distinct benefit, then explain and illustrate it; use linking phrases to show the relationship between the example and its effect.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a small set of relevant terms, including “work experience,” “communication skills,” “travel,” and “professional life,” which makes the general topic understandable. However, vocabulary is limited and repetitive, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate. Phrases such as “a beneficial,” “complete their school study,” and “different type of a people” are not natural in this context. “Travel to work place” also describes commuting rather than taking time to travel, which weakens the intended meaning. Spelling errors such as “oppertunity,” “thier,” and “dicuss” further reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range for discussing a gap year, personal development, and university readiness, and check spelling and common word combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt some longer sentences using “because” and “for example,” but most sentence patterns are simple, and attempts to combine ideas are often faulty. For instance, “I agree this statement the student complete their school study” lacks the grammatical links needed to express the relationship between the ideas. There are also recurring errors with articles, agreement, and verb forms, as in “the young people choose,” “their communication skills have improved,” and “before start the university study.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are sometimes awkward, including the fragment beginning “Because” in the conclusion. Practise forming accurate complex sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check articles, plural forms, and verb patterns during revision.
