Student answer (Band 5.0)
i agree with the individuals who take year out between completing school and start university as it helps out the individuals to get practical experience regarding the major subject they are going to select ahead in their careers
most of the time students do not have any idea or clear direction about thier major subjects and they tend to select any subject on the advice of family members or friends and at the end of course they realize that it was not the subject or department they were willing to have because they don't have any expertise releted to the field they have selected.
for instance a individual who is willing to have the subject regarding computer science at the moment of completing school he does not know any this about computer science and when he goes to university he came to know that it was builder he has mad befor any practical work
on other hand a individual who has recently been graduated from school and found that it would be better to have experience releted this field for this pirpose he joined a software house as a internee for the period of one year where he learnt basic phenomena of IT and computer science which can be useful Factor to have significant performance in the university curriculum.
i would rather say it depends on the subject you going to obtain in the universety either it theoretically subject or practial of you are planning to have admission in subject like e-commerce or management then you should not take a year out.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is broadly clear: you agree that a year out can help students gain practical experience before university. The examples about choosing computer science without prior knowledge and working as an intern in a software house are relevant to this view. However, the response only partly addresses the question because it focuses mainly on choosing a major and academic performance, rather than explaining more broadly how non-academic life or travel benefits students when they return to education. The final paragraph introduces a qualification—that a year out may not suit e-commerce or management—but does not explain this distinction or reconcile it with your agreement. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation and a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it begins with your opinion, gives a concern about students choosing subjects without experience, then offers an internship as a contrasting example. This gives the reader a basic sense of the argument. However, progression is not consistently clear, and the final paragraph shifts to a conditional view without linking it to the earlier position. Connectors such as “for instance” and “on other hand” are attempted, but the contrast is not fully explained, and paragraphing does not yet create a clear sequence of developed points. Use a topic sentence for each paragraph, explain how each example supports your claim, and finish with a conclusion that restates your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “practical experience,” “major subjects,” “computer science,” “software house,” and “university curriculum,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions make parts difficult to interpret, such as “builder he has mad befor any practical work” and “basic phenomena of IT.” Some phrases are also imprecise, including “the subject they were willing to have.” Aim for more natural academic collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a student as “interested in studying computer science” and say that an internship provides “foundational knowledge” or “hands-on experience.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including explanations with “because” and a relative clause beginning “who is willing.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. Examples include “between completing school and start university,” “he came to know,” and “if you are planning to have admission,” which show problems with verb forms and sentence patterns. Articles and agreement also need attention, as in “a individual” and “a internee.” Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, with several long sentences joined without clear boundaries. Practise building accurate sentences first, then combine ideas using clauses such as “because,” “which,” and “although.”
