Student answer (Band 4.5)
Most of people took around one year to have a chill after they finish there fsc degree because they think that its the time to enjoy and have some fun. But they don't think that it's just wastage of time and also there age is getting up. Along with that if we cut of from the studies then our brain cannot digest the materials easier when we returned back to education after a year.
I am sharing my experience. I also took a break of around 1 years but the reason was that i hadn't score good in my fsc degree so i planned to skip one year and give improvement. But i think so it's not a good decision that i have tooked because I hadn't get improve more result just 40 marks increased. So now, when I am thinking back i just wasted my Time and that makes me laxy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You give a clear negative view of taking a year out, and your personal example—taking a break to improve your exam result—relates to the topic. However, the response addresses the question only minimally: it does not explain the benefits of non-academic experience or weigh them against your concerns, and the claim that a break is “just wastage of time” is not supported with enough reasoning. The personal example is also brief and does not fully show how the break affected your return to education. The response is 98 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to develop your position and relevant examples. Explain your view directly, then support it with developed reasons and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic sequence: you introduce your view, mention possible effects of leaving study, and then give a personal example. Phrases such as “Along with that” and “So now” help signal connections. However, the response has only two paragraphs and the progression between ideas is not always clear: the opening moves from young people wanting to relax to the claim that their age is increasing, without explaining the link. The personal example also shifts from improving exam results to feeling lazy without showing how these points connect. Use separate paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons, and example, and make each paragraph develop one main idea with clear links.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “work experience,” “education,” “studies,” and “improvement,” so the general subject is understandable. However, the range is basic and several informal or inaccurate expressions make the writing less precise, such as “have a chill,” “wastage of time,” and “my age is getting up.” There are also spelling and word-form errors, including “laxy” and “there” for “their.” Aim for more formal, accurate phrases suited to an essay, and check spelling and collocations. For example, you could describe a break as “a year away from formal education” and explain that it may “disrupt study habits” rather than saying the brain cannot digest material.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because” and a time clause beginning “when I am thinking back.” The main ideas can generally be followed, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction are frequent. Examples include “Most of people took,” “after they finish,” “when we returned back,” and “I hadn't get improve.” The opening also combines several ideas in a long sentence without reliable punctuation. Practise forming past-tense sentences consistently and checking subject–verb agreement and articles. For instance, “I took a break for about a year because I had not achieved the result I wanted” would express your experience more accurately.
