Student answer (Band 5.0)

In this modern culture, many youth choose to take a gap after compeletion of school and joining university in order to gain work experience or to travel, whereas the knowledge they get from non-academic life is more beneficial to people, when they back to start their education. I strongly believed that people get best experience and knowledge about their daily lifestyle.

On the one hand, people are taking a gap between school academic and starting university because they get few time to spent with their family and friends. Moreover, youngster are very offensive about traveling and gaining practical work experience, due to this they learn someting new and memories properly. Furthermore, many students have been very good in visualise image with approriate explanation. For instance, few students are not able in memorising theory due to that they take drop to gain realiable experience towards their university course.

In addition, during their one year gap they learn so many new skills about their routine lifestyle. The major advantage is when they start offical job after their graduation, at that time they are aware of their office culture. Moreover, adults are very intentive about their perosnal and proffesional life so if they are taking a year out is benefical for them to learn new skills, which have been useful in future.

In conclusion, many young people choose to take one year drop before joining college for gain work experience or to travel, whereas the non-academic life offers benefits the individual when they return to eductaion. Therefore, I strongly believed that take a year out for refreshment is very crucial for students before they enter in university and remuse their peronal and proffesional couriur.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you support taking a year out, and the introduction and conclusion both express this view. You also give relevant reasons, including gaining practical experience, learning about workplace culture and having time with family and friends. However, the response addresses the benefits in a limited and sometimes unclear way. For example, the point about students who struggle to memorise theory is not fully explained, and the link between a gap year and being better prepared to return to education needs more development. The discussion also shifts towards benefits after graduation rather than focusing consistently on how non-academic experience helps students when they resume their studies. Develop each reason with a clear explanation or specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally group related points, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore” and “In addition” help signal additions. However, progression within paragraphs is not always clear: the point about visualising images and the example of difficulty memorising theory are connected only loosely to the main argument. Several ideas are added without showing how they relate to one another, and repeated linking words make the cohesion feel mechanical. The conclusion largely repeats the introduction rather than drawing together the reasons. To improve, organise each paragraph around one main claim and use clearer references and explanations to connect supporting details to it.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “practical work experience,” “office culture” and “personal and professional life.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “take a gap,” “youngster are very offensive about traveling,” and “take a year out for refreshment”; these do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling and word-form errors such as “compeletion,” “reliable,” “benefical” and “couriur” also reduce clarity. Aim to use familiar, accurate expressions before attempting less common vocabulary, and check spelling and collocations carefully. More precise wording would help communicate your relevant ideas without changing their meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple sentences and attempts at longer structures, including clauses introduced by “because,” “whereas” and “when.” This shows some range, but control is inconsistent, particularly in complex sentences. For example, “many students have been very good in visualise image” has problems with verb form and sentence construction, while “if they are taking a year out is benefical for them” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Agreement and tense are also unreliable, as in “youngster are” and “I strongly believed.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses, checking subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles and punctuation.
