Student answer (Band 4.0)
Some peolpe wanted to get admission in university after their school and take a year off for their non acedemic work .
many students after their matric especially boys wanted to learn some job experiences like car work or any other and girls wanted to learn skills like stitching and beautician work .
in my opinion, whenever we are studying we should learn skills too and after that we are able to get a job in any company. If we don't learn skills wjile studying we wouldn't be able to get a good job .so , students should learn theor favorite subject in university and while studying at Universitythery should learn skils too .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You give a relevant opinion that students should develop practical skills alongside university study, and you include examples such as car-related work, stitching and beauty work. However, the response only partly addresses the question: it does not clearly discuss whether taking a year out specifically benefits students when they return to education, and it gives little explanation of how work or travel might help them academically or personally. The position is also not fully clear, since the essay shifts from the benefits of a gap year to learning skills while studying. The response is below the required 250 words, so there is not enough development or support for the main ideas. Explain your view directly and extend it with reasons and relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces students taking time away from study, gives examples of skills, and then states your view. This provides some organisation, but the ideas are not developed into a clear overall argument. The final paragraph moves from the gap-year topic to learning skills at university without explaining the connection, so progression is difficult to follow. There is also no paragraphing to separate the introduction, supporting points and conclusion. Linking is limited, with “in my opinion” and “after that” doing most of the work. Use separate paragraphs and connect each example explicitly to your position—for instance, explain how work experience could build confidence or clarify career goals before returning to study.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “university,” “work experiences,” “skills,” and “favorite subject,” and the examples of car work and stitching make your meaning generally understandable. However, the range is basic and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “get admission in university,” “non acedemic work,” and “learn some job experiences.” Spelling errors, including “peolpe,” “acedemic,” and “skils,” also reduce accuracy. The response repeats “learn” and “skills” rather than using a wider range of precise terms. To improve, practise common collocations for education and employment, and use vocabulary that directly addresses the prompt, such as “gain practical experience,” “take a gap year,” and “return to education.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and a conditional structure, as in “If we don't learn skills while studying we wouldn't be able to get a good job.” This shows some effort to express a relationship between ideas, and the main meaning is usually recoverable. However, sentence structures are mostly simple, and control is inconsistent. For example, “Some people wanted to get admission in university” uses an unsuitable tense for a general statement, while “many students after their matric especially boys wanted” has an unclear sentence structure and missing punctuation. The final sentence also contains a run-on sequence of ideas. Practise accurate present-tense generalisations, articles and sentence boundaries, and build a few controlled complex sentences to explain cause and effect.
