Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You express a general preference for taking a year out, and mention work experience, time to plan further study, and your own IELTS preparation. These points are relevant to the topic, but the response addresses it only partially: the opening is unclear about the extent of your agreement, and the benefits are asserted rather than explained with specific reasons or examples. The final sentence, “The gape year is also plus point,” is unfinished and does not develop another idea. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, so there is not enough discussion to answer the question fully. State your position clearly, then explain and support two or three benefits with concrete examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic line of thought: you introduce the gap-year topic and then discuss work, experience, and planning for university. The phrase “because” also signals a reason, and the personal example gives the paragraph a possible direction. However, the response has no clear overall progression or paragraph structure, and several ideas are crowded into one long sentence. The opening phrase “The debate over…” does not lead clearly into your position, while the final fragment leaves the discussion incomplete. Organise the essay into an introduction, separate body paragraphs for distinct benefits, and a conclusion. Use linking expressions to show how each example supports your view, rather than relying on a single extended paragraph.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt some topic-related vocabulary, including “work experience,” “part time jobs,” “further studies,” and “international university.” These choices show an effort to discuss education and employment, but the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand. For example, “gape year” is repeated instead of “gap year,” and “one gorgeous plan” is not a natural way to describe a beneficial choice. “Bright your educational life” is also unclear in this context. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; a few precise phrases such as “develop practical skills” or “make an informed choice about a degree” would help express your ideas more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in a longer sentence, using structures such as “because” and “which,” but the range is limited and these complex attempts are often faulty. For example, “Taking a rest after school and apply for part time jobs” does not maintain a consistent verb form, and “as I had also take a gape” has an incorrect verb construction. The opening sentence is difficult to follow because its clauses are not clearly formed, and the final phrase “The gape year is also plus point” lacks an article. These errors can make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with correctly formed clauses and check verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries.
