Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many young individuals decide to take a year out between completing school and starting university in order to gain work experience or to travel. The experience of non-academic life this offers benefits the individual when they return to education. I partially agree with statement and I will give reasons and my own views or opinions in upcoming paragraph.

First of all, Plenty of young people take a one or two year break after completing their schooling. I believe that, this is a excellent decision because during the school they did not get a chance to explore the world or even their surroundings, they always stuck in completing syllabus, exams and practicals. Moreover, this one year break assist them to travel and explore their culture. Furturmore, if they start university without break, then they again stuck in same loop. Because, I believe that university education has more burdun than school.

On the other hand, there are some drawbacks of this situation such as taking a break after finishing school will increase there gap and it might create problem in future. Because some individuals want to start their carrer in early days or just after finishing higher education, so this break will be delay their job finding oppurtunity. Secondly, they might regret after some time , because their mates get their higher degree and they are still in university.

As a conclusion, although take a year out between finishing school have some benefits, yet there are also some brawbacks. It will depend on individuals, how they react to this situation according to them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a partly agreeing position and discuss both potential benefits and drawbacks, so the response is relevant to the question. The points about exploring the world and delaying entry into work are understandable, but they are brief and not sufficiently explained or supported with specific examples. The essay also focuses mainly on travel and the timing of a career; it says little about how non-academic experience might benefit students when they return to education. Your conclusion says the choice depends on the individual, but does not clearly restate the extent of your agreement. The response is 233 words, below the 250-word minimum; 29 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Develop each main point and connect it directly to the effect on later study.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting benefits, a paragraph on drawbacks, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “First of all” and “On the other hand” help signal the change in direction. However, progression within paragraphs is limited: several claims are placed together without showing how one leads to the next, and the repeated use of “Because” creates abrupt sentence links. The conclusion is also vague rather than drawing the discussion together. Improve cohesion by organising each body paragraph around one clear point, then explaining and illustrating it, and use pronouns or linking phrases with clear references instead of relying on repeated signposts.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “work experience,” “university,” “higher degree,” and “job finding opportunity.” There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “explore the world” and “non-academic life.” However, the range is limited and some word choices, collocations, and spelling errors make the writing less precise: “stuck in same loop,” “burdun,” “brawbacks,” and “delay their job finding opportunity” are examples. Repetition of “break” and “school” also restricts variety. Build a more accurate range for discussing education and personal development, and check spelling and natural word combinations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional forms such as “if they start university without break” and a contrast introduced by “although.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “I partially agree with statement,” “this one year break assist them,” and “this break will be delay their job finding opportunity.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries, as in “Because, I believe that university education has more…” Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a subordinate clause, and check subject–verb agreement and verb forms during editing.
