Student answer (Band 5.0)

In our society, people are more likely take gap year before getting into university, in order to experience what does it felt like to live with no study associated things such as schools. I completely agree with this view, it might give them better opportunities and advantages when they decided to take course in university. This essay will discuss about how it suggests better chances in life.

First and foremost, life is not seem as polite and fair as we imagine back then sometimes reality hits hard. Most of the alumnis think that life is going to be easy by just knowing the theoretical knowledges. For instance, there is numerous people that applied for a specific job, there is lots of competition going around even after hired. It is not what they want to experience following the imagination, so they ended up losing their motivation and time.

On the other hand, teenagers are not that ready to face with real life, because they need their own timeline to discover who they truly are and what they wants in future. So, by having little space from studies can help them in those areas. In addition, most of the alumnis regret about their decisions in further life. Every human beings are living in their own world where timelines are different from each other.

All things considered to conclude that non-academic life can offer better opportunities in their continued career of studying, by discovering themselves can influence them choose the greatest path they could ever chose or having little time to experience life is more than okay.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You state a clear overall view—“I completely agree”—and discuss how time away from study might expose young people to real-life challenges and help them discover their interests. These points are relevant to the question. However, the response only partially develops the task: the first body paragraph focuses on competition and disappointment in employment, while the second makes broad claims about personal timelines and regret without explaining clearly how these experiences improve a student’s return to education. The benefits of travel are not addressed, and the conclusion introduces possible outcomes rather than firmly summarising your reasons. To strengthen the response, explain specific links between a gap-year experience and later study, and support each main point with a clear example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Signposts such as “First and foremost,” “On the other hand” and “All things considered” help show the intended stages of the argument. However, the overall progression is not always clear: the second paragraph begins with “On the other hand,” although it largely adds another reason for taking time away rather than presenting a contrasting view. Several ideas are placed next to one another without clear links, particularly the claims about readiness, personal timelines and regret. Some transitions also sound formulaic. Organise each body paragraph around one main benefit, then explain and illustrate it, using references such as “this experience” only when their meaning is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “gap year,” “theoretical knowledge,” “competition” and “motivation,” and some phrases communicate your general meaning. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, which sometimes makes the message difficult to follow. Examples include “theoretical knowledges,” “the alumnis,” “continued career of studying” and “the greatest path.” The phrase “life is not seem as polite and fair” also does not express the intended idea naturally. Aim for precise, conventional combinations such as “practical experience,” “career prospects” and “make an informed decision.” Check plural forms and choose vocabulary that directly describes the benefit being discussed.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a sentence with “by having.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors can make the reader work to understand your meaning. For example, “people are more likely take” needs an infinitive marker, while “what does it felt like” has an incorrect question structure and verb form. There are also agreement and sentence-construction problems in “there is numerous people” and “Every human beings are living.” The final sentence is a fragment-like construction with unclear links between its clauses. Practise building complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement, verb forms and clause boundaries, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and main verb.
