Student answer (Band 5.5)
in my opinion this is very good to take a year out after finishing school and before joining your work. i personally prefer to travel in Northern areas of Pakistan to keep your mind relax and feel fresh. it is very necessary because in last days of school there is a huge pressure of studies on students. and the starting days of university or collage are also very hectic. treveling is the best activity which keep students fresh. Students also gain experience in that field which they will study in university. by visiting sites related to there field. and learn how things work which will hwlp them learning fast.
for Example, the students who want to Study Degree related to food science and technology they should visit food factory and learn through which processes the food pass through and in which condition we receive it. they should learn how to calculate calories given on the food packaging.
for those students who want to develop their career in meat industries should visit poultry farms to gain expertise how to grow the chick in to a complete chicken. and also visit slaughter houses where they can learn the way of Halal and Haram slaughtering. the parts of meats and there specific names, the names of bacteria which are present in meat and which will damage the human health after consumption.
for those students who has interest in dairy industry and want to see their profession in dairy industry should visit dairy farms and dairy processing plants

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear at the start: you consider taking a year out beneficial, especially for travel and gaining practical experience. The examples about food science, poultry and dairy industries are relevant and show how visits could connect with future study. However, the response only partly develops the question’s central claim that non-academic life benefits students when they return to education. Most of the discussion describes industry visits, rather than explaining how travel, work or other life experience improves readiness for university. The opening point about reducing study pressure is also not extended. To strengthen the response, explain the benefits more directly and support each main reason with a clear explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable sequence: an opinion and general reasons are followed by examples from food science, meat production and dairy. This gives the reader some sense of the topic’s development. However, the ideas are presented largely as one continuous block, without paragraphing to distinguish the main argument from the examples. Connections between points are also limited; repeated openings such as “for those students” make the examples feel like a list rather than a progression. Some sentences are joined with “and” or full stops where a clearer link is needed. Use separate paragraphs for your position, reasons and examples, and add linking phrases that show how each example supports the benefit of a year out.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “work experience,” “food science and technology,” “food factory,” “poultry farms” and “dairy processing plants.” These terms help make the examples specific. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which can make parts less clear. For example, “keep your mind relax” and “the best activity which keep students fresh” do not express the intended ideas naturally, while “see their profession” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “treveling,” “collage” and “hwlp” also affect the overall impression. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for discussing personal development, practical skills and preparation for university, and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate your main opinion and give several examples, but the response relies mainly on short, simple statements and has limited control of sentence structure. Attempts to connect ideas into longer sentences are often faulty. For instance, “Students also gain experience in that field which they will study in university. by visiting sites…” leaves the second part as a fragment, and “the students who want to Study Degree…” does not form a complete, well-controlled sentence. There are also recurring agreement and article problems, as in “activity which keep students” and “students who has interest.” Use complete sentences, vary sentence patterns carefully, and check subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation when editing.
