Student answer (Band 4.5)

Nowadays, Many young people choose to take a year out finishing school and starting university in order to gain work experience or to travel has become increasingly important and widely discussed issues. While some people argue that gain work experience or to travel. This essay will examine both perspectives before explaining my own view.

On the other hand, others disagree with this position and argue that experience of non academic life this offers benefits the individual when they return to education. One important reason is that better to gain work experience help to gain a good job because, mostly companies demand a work experience. In addition, Mostly companies rule is that you have not any work experience then you are not eligible for job, Which can have positive effect on society. As a result, supporters of this view believe that mostly students are jobless. Therefore, there are reasonable grounds for considering this perspective.

On the other hand, some people believe that work experience is better option as it to education. Travel history is beneficial to apply visa any country and visa grant 100%. In addition, some people disagree with this process and thinking that is just wast of money to travel and there are thinking to gain education more and more is help to get best job easily. Some people argue this point and some disagree with this point. According to my knowledge experience is very important for any job you will do. I will see in our society mostly educated people are jobless. On the other hand, some uneducated people will do a better jobs because who has work experience. Education is very important thing but work experience is very important for better life style and better jobs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response addresses the topic of work experience and travel, and it gives a general view that practical experience is important for employment. However, the position on the specific claim—that non-academic experience benefits students when they return to education—is not clearly stated or consistently explained. The opening promises to examine “both perspectives,” but the discussion shifts between employment, travel visas, education and job prospects without directly evaluating how a year out helps someone resume university study. Examples such as educated people being jobless are asserted rather than explained or linked to the question. To strengthen the response, state clearly how far you agree and develop relevant reasons and examples focused on the effect of a gap year on later education. The 38 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction and two body paragraphs, and linking expressions such as “In addition” and “As a result” show an effort to connect ideas. However, progression is difficult to follow: both body paragraphs begin with “On the other hand,” although they do not present clearly contrasting positions, and the second paragraph moves abruptly from work experience to travel visas and then to education and unemployment. Some links do not express a clear logical relationship, as in “As a result, supporters of this view believe that mostly students are jobless.” Paragraphing and signposting therefore do not yet create a coherent argument. Group related points together, use topic sentences that match each paragraph’s purpose, and make each transition show the actual relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “work experience,” “education,” “travel,” “eligible for job” and “society,” so the main subject is generally recognisable. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “positive effect on society” and “work experience.” However, vocabulary is repetitive and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the intended meaning unclear: “Travel history is beneficial to apply visa any country,” “companies rule,” and “better life style” are examples. Spelling and word-form errors such as “wast” and “a better jobs” also reduce control. Build a more precise range for discussing gap years and returning to study, and check collocations and word forms so that ideas are expressed clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts some longer sentence forms, including “While some people argue…” and clauses beginning with “because” and “which,” but control is limited and many sentences contain errors that make relationships between ideas hard to follow. For example, the opening sentence combines several ideas without a clear grammatical structure, while “if you have not any work experience then you are not eligible for job” has problems with verb construction and articles. There are also errors in agreement and sentence formation, as in “some uneducated people will do a better jobs,” and punctuation is inconsistent, including missing spaces after full stops. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses while checking verb forms, articles, agreement and sentence boundaries.
