Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many teenagers prefer a gap of one year after completing their school and before to begin univertsities. As result, they likes to go for a tour for a refreshment or to experience how they can earn money. Furthermore, this offers many advantages when they get back to studies.

Overall, taking break from a studies is beneficial for stundents life. They can experience different things, such as, Work or tour which good for the mental health. When the mind will be fresh the students can do better and gain more knowledge.

Intially, I strongly agree that young people must take a year gap. This would make them fresh. There is many other things too. Studies is not the only. It is essential for teenage and for everyone to do some refreshment beside thier job and studies in order to be far away from mental diseases. Like, anxiety, depression etc.

Futhermore, In the 20th century, there is significant increase in sucide and the majoruty is the students because they are involve in the race of studies. They do not prefer to do other activites on order to not remain back.

Moreover, the students must travel to new palces and meet new people in order to erase the wastes and diesease which took place in their mind. Consequently, when they get back to studies they will able to carry on. A fresh mindset leads to distination and they can compete with any type of difficulties regarding to thier coures or challenges of life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall position in favour of a gap year, especially in “I strongly agree,” and you connect the experience to returning to study with a fresher mindset. The discussion of travel, work, and mental health is relevant to the prompt. However, the response addresses the benefits in a limited and repetitive way: several points repeat that students need “refreshment” or a fresh mind, while the claimed rise in suicide is not explained or supported. The task asks how non-academic experience benefits students when they return to education, so develop specific links—for example, how employment builds responsibility or travel improves independence and motivation. This would make the argument more fully supported and consistently clear.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an identifiable introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding idea, and signposts such as “Furthermore” and “Moreover” show an attempt to organise points. However, progression is not consistently clear: the second paragraph gives a general overview, while later paragraphs return to similar claims about refreshment without building a distinct argument. Some links are difficult to follow, particularly the move from students’ study pressure to suicide and then to travelling to “erase” mental problems. Paragraphs would be more effective if each developed one main reason, followed by an explanation and example. Use fewer repeated transition words and make references explicit so the reader can see how each point supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “work experience,” “mental health,” “anxiety,” and “depression,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “fresh,” “studies,” and “refreshment.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “univertsities,” “stundents,” “sucide,” and “palces.” Some expressions are unclear or unnatural, including “erase the wastes and diesease” and “leads to distination,” which make the intended meaning difficult to identify. Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe a gap year as a chance to “recharge” or “gain independence,” rather than relying on “refreshment.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with linking clauses, such as “Consequently, when they get back to studies they will able to carry on.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns, agreement, articles, and verb forms. Examples include “they likes,” “There is many other things,” “Studies is not the only,” and “they will able.” The opening also has an incorrect infinitive construction in “before to begin.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to work out the meaning. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete verb patterns first, then build longer sentences using subordinate clauses. Careful proofreading for articles and sentence boundaries would also improve clarity.
