Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the chart’s broad patterns and include both age and education groups. The overview correctly notes that leisure is highest for women with less than a high-school diploma and that work-related time is highest among degree holders; you also report several relevant figures, such as 51.7 hours of leisure for women aged 75 and over. However, some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear: work is highest at 27.0 hours for both the 25–34 and 45–54 groups, not 27.3 for the latter, and household activity peaks at 21.1 hours among 65–74-year-olds, rather than among those aged 75 and over. The overview also misstates the lowest activity pattern: leisure is not the largest category for every age group. Develop the education comparisons beyond the two highest figures to cover the main trends more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, an age-group paragraph and an education paragraph. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several figures and comparisons are compressed into long or incomplete sentences. For example, “the lowest proportion for work recorded in 75 and over and 65-74” does not clearly connect the groups to their values, and “there was no as low proportion in this category” is hard to interpret. Linking phrases such as “In contrast,” are repeated without always marking a clear contrast. Group related figures into clearer comparisons and use precise references to the age or education categories to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “average number of hours,” “work related activities,” “leisure and sports,” and “household activities,” so the topic is generally clear. There is also an attempt to vary wording with phrases such as “accounted for” and “education wise.” However, inaccurate spelling and awkward collocations are noticeable, including “lesiure,” “acticities,” “most active in work related,” and “largest proportion in age group.” “Proportion” is also not the best term for values measured in hours; “time spent” or “hours devoted to” would be more precise. Aim for accurate spelling and natural chart-reporting phrases, and avoid describing hours as a proportion unless the data are expressed as percentages.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “while” and clauses introduced by “although” or “in contrast.” Some sentences communicate the intended comparison, but grammatical control is uneven. For example, “women varying levels of education” is missing a possessive construction, and “the lowest proportion accounted in working” lacks a clear grammatical subject and verb pattern. The sentence beginning “Firstly, work related activities had the largest proportion…” also joins separate ideas with a comma, while “household activities was” has a subject–verb agreement error. Use complete clauses, check singular and plural agreement, and punctuate sentences that contain several comparisons. More consistently accurate sentence structures would make the data easier to understand.
