Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the ability to address all parts of the task. While the introduction identifies the topic, the response fails to provide a comprehensive summary or report on the main features of the data. The writing stops abruptly after only 76 words, meaning the analysis is incomplete and lacks the necessary detail to compare the various age and education groups effectively. To improve, you must ensure you cover all categories presented in the chart and provide a full analysis that meets the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response shows a basic attempt at organization, with an introduction and a brief overview paragraph. However, because the text is incomplete, it is impossible to assess the logical progression or the effective use of cohesive devices throughout a full essay. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraph is mechanical. To improve, focus on developing a clear structure with distinct paragraphs for different trends and ensure that cohesive devices are used to link ideas smoothly once the full analysis is written.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the task, with terms like 'categorized', 'educational attainment', and 'fluctuating trend'. However, the range is limited due to the brevity of the text. There is a minor error in 'it's' (should be 'its'), which is a common possessive pronoun mistake. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to incorporate a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'significant disparity', or 'marginal variation', and ensure accurate usage of possessives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The sentences produced are grammatically sound, showing a mix of simple and some complex structures. There is a minor punctuation error with the possessive 'it's' instead of 'its'. Because the response is so short, it is difficult to judge your ability to maintain grammatical accuracy over a longer piece of writing. To improve, focus on expanding your range of complex sentence structures and proofreading for small errors like apostrophe usage, which will help demonstrate better control over your writing.
