Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response provides a clear overview of the main trends and selects relevant data points to support the description. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical, listing figures without fully synthesising the comparisons. For instance, while you identify the highest and lowest categories, the connection between age groups and education levels could be more clearly articulated to show a deeper understanding of the data. The summary is accurate, but it lacks a more sophisticated grouping of the information, which prevents it from reaching a higher band. Overall, it covers the requirements of the task well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organised into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on specific categories. Cohesive devices such as 'Regarding', 'Meanwhile', and 'By contrast' are used to signal shifts in focus. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes slightly disjointed, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. The use of paragraphing is appropriate, but the transition between the general overview and the specific details could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'educational attainment', 'primary activities', and 'recorded'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'least spending hours' instead of 'the fewest hours'. While you attempt to use varied vocabulary, some phrasing is slightly unnatural or repetitive. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding the repetition of 'spent' and 'activities' throughout the text. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning clearly despite these minor limitations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'woman with less than high school diploma' (missing article) and 'only 1.3 hours spend on' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is generally acceptable, though there are minor issues with spacing, such as '16. 7'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures and ensuring subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
