Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, but it lacks a clear, analytical overview. The description of the age groups is somewhat inaccurate; for instance, the claim that leisure time increases as women age is a generalization that ignores the specific data points provided. Furthermore, the comparison between educational levels is underdeveloped and lacks the necessary precision to fully address the prompt. To improve, ensure you identify the most significant trends and provide specific data points to support your observations rather than making broad, unsupported statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical. The transition between the age-related data and the education-related data is abrupt, and the logical progression within paragraphs could be improved. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'in that case' which does not clearly link back to the previous point. More varied linking words would help improve the flow between sentences and ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are some errors in word choice, such as 'chat' instead of 'chart' and 'weather' instead of 'whether'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, relying on basic descriptors. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained constant', or 'a significant proportion', and ensure that your spelling is accurate throughout the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'As a women's age is increasing' (should be 'As women's age increases') and 'women varying level of education' (should be 'women with varying levels of education'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent article usage.
