Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarise the data but fails to provide a clear or accurate overview. The introduction incorrectly states the data is in percentages, whereas the chart displays hours. The selection of data is disjointed and lacks a logical focus, often listing figures without meaningful comparison or synthesis. Key features, such as the clear trends across age groups or educational levels, are not effectively highlighted. The information provided is often confusing, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the main trends in the chart. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant differences and similarities rather than listing isolated data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. The progression of ideas is often disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical or inappropriate, such as 'Fleeting a glance' and 'Moving ahead'. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult to follow which data points correspond to which categories. The lack of logical flow between sentences hinders the overall readability. To improve, use a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that connects logically to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. There is a significant error in the introduction where 'percentage' is used instead of 'hours'. Phrases like 'be remain similar' and 'did not passed' demonstrate a lack of control over basic word forms and collocations. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends or data comparisons with precision. To improve, focus on learning specific terminology for describing charts, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for', and ensure that you use the correct units of measurement as provided in the prompt.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('those women did not passed'), tense usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack necessary articles and prepositions, such as 'whose aged over the 75'. The range of structures is very limited, relying mostly on simple, error-prone sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that verb tenses are used consistently throughout the report.
