Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear or accurate overview of the main trends. The description of the data is often confusing and lacks precision. For example, the statement 'The data has been calibrated into numbers or percentages' is vague and unnecessary. Furthermore, the analysis of the age groups and education levels is disjointed and does not clearly compare the categories as requested. The information provided is often inaccurate, such as the claim that women over 75 are focused on finishing work, which is not supported by the typical interpretation of such charts. To improve, you must focus on identifying the most significant trends and supporting them with accurate data points from the graph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. While you use some linking words like 'Overall', 'Firstly', and 'However', they are often used incorrectly or do not effectively connect the ideas. The transition between the age-based data and the education-based data is abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are difficult to follow due to poor phrasing, such as 'Their was total;y interest of women was in finish the working cross the age of 75.' This lack of clarity hinders the reader's ability to follow your argument. Improving the use of cohesive devices and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and often misused. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'calibrated into numbers', 'fleeting glance', and 'joined working'. You also struggle with basic collocations, for example, 'in education area' instead of 'regarding educational attainment'. There are also spelling and punctuation errors, such as 'total;y' and 'spots' (likely meant 'sports'). To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary and ensure that words are used in their correct context. Focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to describing charts and trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammatical control is inconsistent, with frequent errors that occasionally impede meaning. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'leisure increased... and become dominant'), incorrect preposition usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or poorly constructed, such as 'However, in furthermore in education area their was leisure and sports women are taking highest education in less than a high school diploma.' These errors make the text difficult to read. You should focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for common errors like 'their' vs 'there' and 'was' vs 'were' before moving on to more complex grammatical forms.
