Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the data, including age groups and educational levels. However, the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. While you identify key trends, such as the high leisure time for those aged 75+, some comparisons are slightly confusing, such as the mention of 'horses' instead of 'hours' and the unclear description of the education trends. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are accurately reported and that comparisons are clearly linked to the specific categories provided in the chart. The overview is present but could be more sharply focused on the most significant differences between the groups.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on different aspects of the data. Cohesive devices such as 'however' and 'while' are used to link ideas, although the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing or minor errors in referencing. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the transition between the age-based data and the education-based data could be smoother to improve the overall coherence of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'educational attainment' and 'allocate'. However, there are several spelling errors ('brakets', 'releted', 'acttivities', 'bechlor's') and a significant vocabulary error where 'horses' is used instead of 'hours'. These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone required for an Academic Task 1 report. To improve, focus on proofreading for spelling and ensuring that the terminology used is contextually accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally conveyed, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('women aged 75'), incorrect verb tense usage ('spending... increased'), and punctuation issues. Some sentences are slightly clunky, which impacts the readability. To achieve a higher score, you should aim for more consistent control over basic grammar, particularly subject-verb agreement and article usage, and ensure that complex structures are formed accurately.
