Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response provides a clear overview and selects key features from the bar chart. However, the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, the comparison between age groups and education levels is occasionally confusing, such as when comparing age groups directly to 'educated women' without specifying the category. While the main trends are identified, the data reporting lacks precision in places, and some figures are presented without clear context. To improve, ensure that every data point is explicitly linked to its specific category (e.g., age vs. education) to avoid ambiguity for the reader.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. There is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'In detail' and 'In terms of'. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, particularly when transitioning between age groups and educational attainment. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns or references clearly point back to the intended data would enhance the flow and coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to describe the data points effectively. There are some attempts at using topic-specific vocabulary like 'educational attainment' and 'primary activities'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'involved highly in work related activities' and 'women of aged 16-19'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic descriptors. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and varied synonyms to describe trends and figures, rather than repeating the same structures.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' is often missing), prepositions, and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'women of aged 16-19'). There are also issues with capitalization at the start of sentences. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence construction would be beneficial.
