Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the chart, but the presentation is often confusing. While you identify key trends, the data reporting is frequently inaccurate or difficult to follow. For example, your description of the educational attainment data is unclear, and the phrasing 'soared slightly' or 'surged' is used inconsistently with the actual figures provided. To improve, ensure that you clearly distinguish between the different categories (age vs. education) and present the data points with greater precision. The summary of trends is present, but the lack of clarity in data reporting prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is often hindered by awkward phrasing and confusing transitions. For instance, the transition 'Nevertheless, working work related activities had grown up' does not effectively link the ideas. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes incorrect, such as the repetitive use of 'respectively' in a way that makes the sentences clunky. Improving the flow between sentences and using a wider variety of linking words would help the reader follow your analysis more easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely on basic verbs like 'had' or 'grown up' and struggle with precise collocations. There are also several errors in word choice, such as 'Bachelor's collage' (likely meaning college) and 'declination' (decline). The phrase 'working work related activities' is redundant and unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'showed a downward trend', rather than relying on simple descriptive words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('Aged group... seemed to be had'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures. Many sentences are fragmented or lack the necessary articles and correct tense forms. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect pluralisation before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
