Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, but the analysis is somewhat mechanical. You have successfully identified trends across age groups and educational levels. However, the report lacks a clear, analytical overview that synthesizes the data effectively; the second paragraph is quite vague. While you have included specific data points, the comparison between categories could be more sophisticated. To improve, ensure that you group information logically rather than just listing numbers chronologically. The summary of the 'educational attainment' section is a bit disjointed, and the connection between the data and the prompt's requirement to 'make comparisons' could be strengthened by highlighting the most significant differences rather than just reporting individual figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'First of all' and 'In next five years' feel a bit mechanical. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt, making the text feel like a list of facts rather than a cohesive report. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases to connect your sentences more fluidly. Additionally, ensure that your referencing is clear; for instance, the transition between age groups and educational levels could be smoother to improve the overall flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety expected at higher levels. You rely on simple verbs like 'spend' and 'reached' repeatedly. There are also some minor errors in word choice and form, such as 'spen' (spelling), 'female with separate level of education' (awkward phrasing), and 'increace' (spelling). To improve, try to incorporate more varied vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant disparity'. Using more precise terminology for educational levels and activity types would also enhance the quality of your writing and demonstrate a more sophisticated range of lexical items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('in college', 'in bachelor's'), subject-verb agreement issues ('teenagers spend... 6 in work'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'In next five years they spend 22 hours at work 32 in sports'. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles and prepositions. Additionally, try to incorporate more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, to demonstrate a wider grammatical range while ensuring these structures are used accurately.
