Student answer (Band 7.5)

The bar chart compares the average number of hours per week women spent on three primary activities - working, leisure, and household tasks - in 2009, divided by age and educational qualification.

Overall, household activities accounted for the highest number of hours in all categories, while working hours were the lowest for teenagers and elderly women. Women in their middle age worked the most, and less-educated women spent considerably more time on household work.

Regarding age, working hours peaked among women aged 35 to 54, at around 27-28 hours per week. In contrast, women aged 15 to 19 and those 75 and over worked the least, with only about 6.8 and 1.3 hours respectively. Leisure time was highest for the youngest group (15-19) at about 22 hours and remained around 16-21 hours for other ages. Household work showed an upward trend with age. Women aged 75 and over spent the most time on household activities, about 51.7 hours, followed by those aged 65-74 at 44 hours, while younger women spent around 28 to 36 hours.

In terms of education, a clear inverse relationship was seen between education level and household work. Women with less than a high school diploma spent the most time on household tasks, at 43.1 hours, while those with a bachelor's degree or higher spent only 28.6 hours. Conversely, highly educated women worked more (about 27.4 hours) and had more leisure time (15.2 hours) compared to less educated groups, who worked only 10.7 hours.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision. Terms such as 'educational attainment', 'inverse relationship', and 'accounted for' demonstrate a good level of lexical control. The vocabulary is appropriate for an academic report and is used accurately. While the range is good, incorporating a few more sophisticated collocations or topic-specific synonyms could further enhance the lexical variety. Overall, the language is natural and precise, and there are no significant errors in word choice or spelling that impede communication.
