Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the chart, including both age and educational attainment categories. However, the report lacks an overview—a critical requirement for Task 1. Instead of summarizing the main trends (e.g., the inverse relationship between age/education and leisure time), the response simply lists data points for each category. This makes the report feel like a series of isolated observations rather than a cohesive summary. Furthermore, some data points are imprecise, such as 'almost 26 to 27 hours', which lacks the analytical precision expected at higher bands. To improve, you must group data logically and provide a clear summary of the most significant trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into two main paragraphs, which is a logical approach given the two variables (age and education). However, the internal flow is repetitive. Many sentences begin with 'Women aged...' or 'A woman...', which creates a mechanical feel. There is a lack of varied cohesive devices to link ideas; transitions like 'similarly' are used, but the overall progression is hindered by the lack of a clear introduction or overview. The paragraphing is sufficient, but the logical flow within the paragraphs is somewhat list-like rather than analytical.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands. You rely heavily on basic phrases like 'spent time' and 'amount of time'. There are also minor errors in collocation and phrasing, such as 'as compare to' (should be 'compared to') and 'as minimum as' (should be 'as little as'). While the range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, it does not demonstrate the flexibility or precision needed to describe data trends effectively. Using more precise verbs like 'allocate', 'devote', or 'exceed' would enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('A women having...' instead of 'A woman'), incorrect prepositional usage ('in comparison of' instead of 'in comparison with'), and missing articles. Additionally, there are punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after periods. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent use of articles and prepositions.
