Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to complete the task as it ends abruptly mid-sentence. While you have identified the main features and attempted to make comparisons, the lack of a conclusion and the incomplete final paragraph significantly hinder the overall task fulfillment. You have successfully highlighted the trends for working and leisure activities, but the analysis of educational attainment is entirely missing from the body paragraphs. To improve, ensure you cover all categories presented in the prompt and provide a complete, coherent summary. The current response is unfinished, which prevents a higher score as the data is not fully reported or synthesized.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression is interrupted by the incomplete ending. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In contrast', and 'In term of', but these are repetitive and sometimes grammatically incorrect (e.g., 'In term of' should be 'In terms of'). The referencing is generally clear, but the lack of a final sentence or concluding thought makes the structure feel disjointed. To improve, vary your linking phrases and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, finished point before moving to the next. The abrupt end to the text is a major issue for coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for higher bands. You use basic terms like 'increasing' and 'decreasing' repeatedly. There are also spelling errors such as 'diferent', 'Workig', and 'acivities'. While you attempt to describe trends, the range of vocabulary is limited. To improve, try to use more sophisticated synonyms for trends, such as 'fluctuate', 'remain constant', or 'peak'. Additionally, ensure you proofread for basic spelling mistakes, as these detract from the professional tone of an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that affect readability. For example, 'The bar chart illustrate' should be 'illustrates' (subject-verb agreement), and 'are decling' should be 'are declining'. There are also issues with preposition usage and article omission. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and your attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage. Practice using a wider variety of complex structures, such as relative clauses or passive voice, while ensuring they are punctuated correctly.
