Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is incomplete, as it cuts off mid-sentence at the end of the text. Because the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum, it fails to fully address the task requirements. While you have attempted to identify some trends, the analysis is superficial and lacks a comprehensive overview of the data provided in the chart. To improve, you must ensure you cover all categories (age and education) and provide a complete summary that reaches the required word count. The current lack of a conclusion and the abrupt ending prevent a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure due to its unfinished state. While there is an attempt at an introduction and a body paragraph, the logical progression is hindered by the abrupt ending. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical way, such as 'In terms of age' and 'Overall'. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked smoothly throughout the entire response. The lack of a concluding summary further impacts the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite repetitive and basic. Phrases like 'remains unchanged and static' and 'increased' are used frequently without much variation. There is an attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'educational attainment' and 'fluctuations', which is positive. However, to reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise and varied collocations to describe trends, such as 'remained stable' or 'experienced a sharp decline'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'afterwards, there is decrease in the task' (missing article) and 'it has decreased till age 44' (preposition choice). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the flow. To improve, focus on article usage and subject-verb agreement. Ensure that your complex sentences are constructed accurately to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
